Tips for catching escaped hamsters?

i left over night to stay at my dad's house and when i came back i went into my room to give my hamsters fresh water and food and i noticed two of them were not in their little house where they usually are. sooo i looked in it and saw the door was open, and i'm pretty sure i closed it, but those two like to climb and could have just pushed it open while i was gone.
i don't think they'd have squeezed under the door so they're probably in the same room, and i left their cage open and put little piles of food around the room. anything else i can do to hopefully find them?
Answers:
1. They can get under the door - they could be anywhere in the house.
First, you need to make sure that ALL food is out of their reach, including food in their cage. (If they can get to the food, they can last for a long time without coming out of hiding) Then, construct "hamster traps" in various places around the house as follows:
1. Get a smooth-sided container that is deep, like a bathroom trash can with solid sides.
2. Prop it up at an angle, so that once the hamsters get in, they will slip down the sides if they try to get out.
3. Put some food with a strong smell in the bottom - regular hamster food smeared with peanut butter works great
4. Build a ramp going up to the container - we always used my kid brother's building blocks.
5. Put a little bit of food near the top of the ramp
Hopefully, they will get hungry soon, and you will be able to catch them.
As far as closing the door to their cage... you might have closed it before you left. I had one hamster that could open the latch on the cage. I forget exactly what we did to modify the latch so it couldn't get out.
Take all the food and put it in one place where they can get to it and you can see them. If you supply them with food everywhere, you may miss the opportunity to scoop them up.
If there's a gap under the door at all, they could possibly have gotten out of the room.
If not, I would put their cage on the floor, open, with their favorite food inside. Put a layer of newspaper on the floor during the night or anytime you're in the room so you'll hear them come to eat. They're most likely to come out at night, though.
If there's a chance they got out of your room, check behind the kitchen appliances, the washer and dryer and around the furnace/heater vents and the water heater. They tend to seek out warm places to hide in.
I would look in the most likely places first, then block them off so you know your hamster can't get there. Look in places with wires and other hazards, your hamsters will find chewing them irresistible. Don't worry, keep areas blocked off and just look. Pretend you're a hamster. Where would you hide? Corners, under beds, behind furniture, in closets, etc. You'll come up with a hamster finding strategy in no time. Good luck!
I have a lot of experience in this area!
check at the lowest floor of your house, they always have a need to go to the level closest to the ground. You can also see trails of bedding, poop, pee, or food, or just random scratches in the wall or floor, you'll know that your hamster had been there.
and also, escaped hamsters are really nippy so if you find them, make sure to hold them with a towel so they dont bite you.
hope this helps!
too bad but the only thing you can do is to put food and wait...
Try some food they like, like mine he liked the cheese sunflowers seed and cat food were his favorites. try to hear some sound and look for some weird sound
i had a hamster too once... T-T he was so cute gold and long hair... but he tought he was tom cruise in impossible mission and allways tried to scape! (yes they can! he open the door by him self at the start i saw with my own eyes! and when i tried to put an wire and he bite it! broke it! i think he was super hamster for real the sensei of turtle ninjas! he could even open bars!! OoO! like Sanson! but at the end he found his Dalila... my cat allways had and eye on him T-T or it was my dog? TT-TT dont know... ) when he had scaped and because the house next door was on construction he hided or found friends there dont know but he had always go the same spot, i gave him cheese his favorite manjar! and he had allways come out!

PD: for next if you have the little tipe of hamsters try to put a wire on the door up and down of it! and youll be much calm!
Keep the door to that room SHUT! Thats all I can say- GOOD LUCK!
Peace
all you have to do is make the room dark put some of its food out and when you hear something its prbably your hamsters
when my hamster ran away first make sure like the vents are clear then open the cage have food and water in it he fav food treats and shell come back but make sure she doesnt escape again
if u want to catch it and not hurt it, use glue traps but check alot, so that the hamster doesn't dehiydrate or starve, jsut lore it to the traps with food tha u can put on it so it has somethin to eat while it waits for u to get it
There are plenty of ways, and all of these have worked for me:
1. close all the doors in the house
2. put 10 sunflower seeds in each room
3. once you start noticing seeds disapearing in one room,
thats the room the hamster is in
4. Put a tall bucket with bedding and peanut butter (very strong smell), and have a ramp to where the hamster can get into it
5. If this doesnt work, you can put the hamsters cage with fresh food and water near where he is usually kept. He will probably be thirsty and come to the cage because it is familiar to him
~that is how we found an espaced hamster in my SCHOOL
Hope this helps because it always works for me.
~~Remember, if you have dogs, keep them outside, or cats, keep them confined in a seperate room, and try to keep doors leading outside closed until you find them
put the cage on the floor open door food scattered around for them and buy a latch for the door so they don't escape again.
