DO UROMASTYX LIKE TO GET WET? AND I GOT MINE A DAY AGO AND HE STILL HASNT EATEN BUT THE PEEPS THAT WORK THERE SAY THEY ARE NOT BIG EATERS AND THEY MAY NOT EAT FOR A WHILE BECAUSE THEY ARE IN A NEW EVIRONMENT? ANY SUGGESTIONS?
Answers:
Yeah a Uromastyx is a type a lizard and should have been posted with the reptile questions but since I know about herptiles I'll help you.
They are desert reptiles and don't like getting wet like Iguana or other tropical species do. You can lightly mist them with a spray water bottle once a week or if they are getting ready to shed but that is the only time you should get them wet.
Also what are you feeding it? Uros are mostly veggie eaters and should be feed a diet of mixed greens and some fruit. You can give them insects as well but make sure they are from the pet store and not wild caught (could have parasites). There is a few sites I have for you below. Good info on their care.:)
