Timothy hay on bedding...?

Does anybody know if you can keep hay on just the bedding?
I keep my guinea pig's hay in one of those hay wheel's, but I've seen alot of people on YouTube put it just on the bedding. I've heard some stuff about doing that, but I'm not sure if I should.

I would probably keep the rack. Your pigs could pee in the hay, and it would become moldy, which can cause some problems. It isn't a big deal to keep them on bedding, but you'd probably go through a lot more hay on bedding.
I give my boys their hay on the bedding. I do have to check it daily and remove any wet hay. I used to have a rack on the side of my cage, but they found a way to get it down. They like to bury themselves in the piles and nap there. It's adorable. So I gave in and give them hug piles of hay to eat and play in.
SO, you can put it directly on the bedding, but there's a little more "housekeeping" involved.
yeah my guinea pig always tried to take the hanger thing off, and hed drag the hay on the ground so he wouldnt have to reach his head up, hes so lazy lol, but yeah i just put it on his bedding or in his food bowl, besides it never stays there long lol :) hope it helps
It's not that big of a problem, you just have to look after it more often to make sure they didn't do their business in it. But, I'd build a hay-rack or two, their not that hard. I also put hay in their tubes and a paper bag they can climb in loaded with hay. Lots of alternatives if you want.
Yeah you can do that the will lye on it and they will love it bedding and dessert at the same time!
