There is a gopher or a woodchuck thing in my yard and he/she doesnt run away..is it dangerous?

it is a gopher and whenever me or my family goes near it, it doesnt run until i am like 2 inches away...do u think there is something wrong with it?
Answers:
probably not, generally if they are exposed to you regularly and you haven't done anything for it to be afraid, it will not run just at the sight of you. As with any wild animal, if cornered or threatened, they can be unpredictable...co-exist don't mingle.
I have several deer that frequent my property and I can hand feed them....I still don't trust them as they will kick if they feel threatened. and the males will use their antlers! I hand feed them from my deck which offers a little protection and a barrier.
Just don't go near it, throw mothballs everywhere in the yard to chase away. It won't like that smell and will want to move somewhere else.
Best case scenario.it's scared, worst case...it's rabid. I would call animal control just in case.
it could be i'll o it could be a former pet that some has feed it alot now when i say pet i do not mean a petting pet DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PET IT. i caught a groung hog when when it was a baby and raised it.it was a nice pet until they grow up. trust me there BITE IS FIERCE and very painful. and an adult wild ground hog is not that affraid of humans if it use to have seen humans all its life.
you do not want to mess with a gopher or woodchuck- those things can literally tear your skin of call a game warden
it probley isnt afrad of humans becuse it is used to them and it is not dangerous and wont do and thing to you unless you touch it so its defending himself .
