What can be a the cause of us having mice in our apt?

i saw a couple mice this morning in the apartment and they were on the shelves but i dunno how they got thier thier so tricky to deal with
Answers:
They come in from holes in the walls. All holes need to be sealed with steel wool (they can't chew thru). Don't leave any food out including pet food if you have pets. You or the apt. management should buy inexpensive traps or bait. Good Luck!
If you are fairly new to the place well its could have been a problem for the whole apartment complex. If its a new problem and you have been there awhile there may be a new construction nearby. New field clearing or and old building being renovated causing a lot of disturbance and making them seek new homes. Best thing to get is a cat if you can stand them and are allowed to have them. Posioning and traps cam become stinky and messy, plus it doesn't stop the rest from coming.
try and keep food away from shelves and counters.
instead, make sure all food items are sealed away, and kept in the refrigerator or cupboards.
mice tend to find holes and crevices to get in, to scavenge for food.
so try to minimize all foods away from being out in the open.
make sure your keeping food sealed tightly and without them being able to reach it. It sounds like there coming in from somewhere you must have a hole somewhere. I would call the maintence men right away and have them take care of this problem
Havahart traps work, but you may not want to concern yourself with "live disposal". Standard "hammer" type traps work just as efficiently, are cheap and can be thrown away with the dead mouse. Glue traps are another option, but I don't like them because you are left with a mouse that will or has already starved to death (small mammals will do so within two days) and they seem less humane (Which would you prefer: starvation, waiting for your captor to find and kill you or a quickly broken neck?).
