What are some ways to play with a bored pet Rat?

Answers:
Some things that my rat, Fish, seems to enjoy are: wrestling (rat vs. fingers), putting a blanket or towel onto the couch and over my lap and letting her runaround (she knows by now where she's allowed to go, IE stay on the couch), strings (she'll chase string like a cat), and filling a plastic egg with a treat or an herb (peppermint, or believe it or not, catnip) You can also let her loose, in an designated area (you don't need her thinking it's okay to steal anything she wants or you'll start missing money and your cable bill) with a bunch of little things she can steal and take back to her cage, don't give them to her, that's not fun, the fun is in being sneaky and thinking that she's getting away with something. You can also try putting on something with a hood, many rats will be perfectly happy to ride around in your hood as you do things around the house, watching (supervising) what you're doing. Most rats don't like balls or wheels, but they do make a leash you can put your rat on for walks, but good luck on that one, I can't get one paw into the harness without her taking off.
Set up a blocked off area for it to run around in and give it some different toys and treats.
Put him in a washing machine and watch him play submarine.
If you have just one rat it is in need of a friend. It's easy to introduce a new female to a female. If it's a boy it's harder and done gradually. There are many fun things to do.
You can get a cat toy of a stick and string and let ratty chase it around.
Make a rat castle out of boxes of different sizes with doors cut in them and taped together and little treats placed randomly.
make a rat pinata, old TP roll filled with treats and small toys.
wear a large sweatshirt and let ratty climb around in it.
play "gotcha"
gently toss ratty a few inches into a soft pillow. Find things ratty can climb on.
many other ways but getting her a friend may be the most important.
Get him a wheel or ball. What I like to do with my hamster in take a thin strand of hair, and kind of tease him with it. He likes to play with it! And it's funny.
Oh definetley!! Go to this web site for idea's and sritching fun!!

building obstacle courses with a treat at the end is one way. but i've had two rats in the past and they always loved crawling all over me. if you lay down and hide treats like around you and some in your clothes and let them run around sniffing out the treats. you can also get a large ball and let them roam (in a safe area. no stairs or things they can fall off) there are also many toys you can buy.
You can use empty paper towel rolls (make sure it can fit), so it can run through it, or a running ball thing ( it's plastic and you can put a rat in it and it can run around.
Rats love it when you tickle their bellies.
let your cat play with it
You should get him or her a cagemate. Same sex of course, unless you want a whole lot of rats. Rats are social animals and really thrive in groups. I have three and they play together and sleep together.
you could take your rat on a walk (you can buy leashes at petsmart), build him an obsticle course or just play with him.
