Answers:
Food - Not a mix it should be the Hamster pellets only. Once in a while some fresh vegetables (carrots, lettuce(not iceburg), apples). I went online and got a list of fruits and vegetables that are good and bad. - Sorry I don't remember the website. Just go on Yahoo and enter hamster care. Once in a while a Hamster "treat" that they have at the pet store. Put a salt wheel in their cage too. Fresh water everyday.
They should have a place to hide in their cage. I also had an smaller hiding area that they used to go the bathroom in. Put a exercise wheel in the cage too, They need something to do when their not sleeping, they like to climb and are very smart so make sure that you have a really good lid on the cage. Don't use the pine chips for bedding. I use the recycled newspaper filler from the pet store it is better for their urinary tract. Their cage needs to be cleaned out every couple of days but it depends on how much mess they make and how many you have in the cage.
Socialize with your hamsters. Pet them, pick them up, hand feed them. We have a surprise "litter" and couldn't socialize all of them very well and some of them ended up being very mean.
Hamster dont swim so please DO NOT put him in an aquarium
There are a lot of resources available on the web but here's a link to PetSmart's information:

This is a basic information but there are a lot of good sources I have referenced in the past for mine are:

PS to Heath K - Hamsters do swim, but I wouldn't encourage it.
They have hamster food at pet stores, you could also feed it carrots for treats. Also, you want a soft bedding in the cage, like "carefresh", they sell it at PetSmart. Make sure it has things in it's cage to keep it occupied, like a running wheel. It is also possible to potty train hamsters, I did it once with a hamster I had. Once you notice where the hamster prefers to potty (most likely a certain corner of the cage) you can put a small soap dish filled with kitty litter in that spot w/ some of the soiled bedding in the dish. The hamster will use that spot to potty and it makes cleaning the cage soooo much easier.
Firstly, please dont house them in an aquarium, it is so restricting for hamsters. Get a large wired cage with a plastic bottom. Your hamster will use the bars to climb.
The most sociable breed of hamster is the syrian. Also known as a teddy bear or goldern hamster. I have had my male syrian hamster a year and he has never bitten. He is incredibly laid back and calm. Males tend to be more sociable and easier to tame than females.
Hamsters main diet is a commercial mix of nuts, seeds, and cereal which all pet stores sell. But they do adore small portions of fresh fruit and veg. But citrus fruit, tomatoes, potatoes, onions, chocolate and general human junk food is poisonous. My hamster loves brocoli, cucumber, mushrooms, bananas, and nuts like monkey nuts and hazel nuts to crack open the hard shells. Hamsters teeth continually grow so need hard nuts and cereals to keep their teeth grounded down to a comfortable length.
They are nocturnal, meaning they sleep all day and wake throughout the evening. Even the tamest hamster will bite if woken in the day... like humans it makes them really grumpy!!
One tip to remember, hamsters are partially blind. They rely on sound, smell, and movement. Hands grabing them from above may seem like they are being attacked and could bite, keep your hands low so they can smell you, and offer them treats as a way of gaining your trust. Always talk to your hamster, they will recognise their name and respond to it after time.
Hamsters need the largest, roomiest cage you can afford. Cleaning it must be thourough and often (weekly) hamsters can die very quickly from infections, stress, and diseases, so a clean cage is essential.
They make the most wonderful pets, and with patience, love, care and attention, they should never bite, and will love coming out to socialise.
One last thing though, most hamsters are solitary, which means they can only live alone. Once adulthood is upon a hamster, they will fight to the death if put together.
I hope this has ben helpful. Have loads of fun, and enjoy being a pet owner.
Give your hampster a carrot a day and maybe some celery but make sure you dont give the hampster to much carrots or they will probably have diareah, and you could give them rabbit food or guinea pig food too.
First of all, don't put them in an aquarium. They sell hamster cages at any pet store. Stock the cage with hamster food or pellets available also at any pet store, make sure the hamster has a bottle of fresh water everyday, and a wheel to spin in. You can also feed them fresh fruits and veggies everyday like carrots, apples, grapes, watermelon, celery, strawberry, green beans and corn. They have hamster "treats" that they sell in pet stores also, I give my precious hammie a treat everyday...get the treats enriched with vitamins and minerals good for your hammie. You will need bedding for the bottom of your hamsters cage, I have found that carefresh bedding is the best and safest bedding for hamsters also found in many pet stores. You can also get a run-about ball where you put your hamster so they can run around the house in that ball, my hammie loves that part of her day, she gets excited to run around in her ball. Some extra things you can do, I got my hamster a "hamster play pin" and bought toys, chew toys, tubes to crawl in etc. and put her in the play pin which she also loves. I take her out of her cage daily and pet her and talk to her and let her roam around keeping a close eye on her so she doesn't get away and hide. I don't want her to hide for days without food or water and die. Just take good care of your hamster and love them and they will be happy. Make sure to clean your hamsters cage EVERY WEEK with mild soap and warm water and change the bedding. You will do just fine.
To rise a hamster you need hamster water. You need to give it food like pellets like what rabbits, mice rats etc. eat you can usually get them in pet shops. You need litter like sewdust or sewdust pellets. You need to clean out their cage, probebly at least once a week, but it depends on the hamster. Hamsters need exercise so get them a running wheel and/or take them out once or twice a day. Also you should get them a chewing block because they need to chew. Don't give them too much sunflower seed, but they like them as a treat, and give them some fresh vegtables
