What bedding should i be using?

i have a hammy but i dont know what beddign i need
Answers:
carefresh, dont be using pine and cedar
if u have to use between pine and cedar.
use pine its better than cedar
you can use cedar but I read in a Hamster book that they tend to smell more so I use a new type of bedding by "healthy pet" called superior odor control...Its kinda spungy like foam it absorbs the smell and you can buy it in yellow pink or blue.I love it.
I promise, the best bedding you can ever give a hamster is shredded up toilet tissue ( unbleached and unscented ) He will love you for it. Throw it randomly round the cage and he will be kept bust and amused for ages carrying it of somewhere to create a bed. Its also the safest for them to use as bedding ( not to mention the comfiest) it also saves you some pennies too.
Dont be roped into thinking the cute fluffy bedding that is sold in pet shops will be the best. People have been campaigning for years to get this banned. Hamsters can choke on it, and also their limbs can get caught, causing them terrible damage.
I would really suggest carefresh, it's very reliant and can be found almost anywhere. It's very important that you change it after a week, because it will have a strong odor and create bacteria if you don't.
any kind thats paper based is good because wood stuff can cause lung infection. Ripped up toilet paper works wonders for nesting, they love it! just make sure you change the paper once a week or it will get bacteria and such in it and your hammys feet will get red blisters on the bottom :(
