Well i have a ten gallon tank and i would like to know..?

if i should get one or two hamsters for it .
by the way the kind of hamster i am getting is teddy bear hamster
Answers:
you should get two that way when your away and or playing with the hamster it will have company but be sure they get along!
If you get two, make sure they get along. It's good to have more than one, they can play together. Just make sure you take care of them!
ok i think that you should get one first cuz it is really hard to raise a hamster cuz i used to have one and boy it was hard especially if you aer gone all the time
My kid had two in theirs and had no problem , except they were suppose to be two females, wrong, had hamsters up to our necks. If you do decide to breed them , intentionally or unintentionally, remove the male before the babies are born, he will kill them.
2 teddies are OK, I had 2 back in the day and it was OK. But rule of thumb is the bigger the better. More room for Habitrails (are those still around?) and wheels and stuff.
my cage is 15 gallons and it barely fits my hamster
You should get to hamsters for it.
Teddy bear hamsters are syrians, and so solitary.
They should be kept ALONE. More often than not they will fight.. and it could start at any point. And you probably will find out when one morning one is lying injured, dead, and possibly part or fully eaten.
Yes, ocassionally they will live together.. and Teddy Bears seem to be more docile than others, so males and females will often live together. But also, often not.
Please, please, please only get 1.
Hope this helps.
Aquariums are airtight for a reason. They are meant for water living animals... hint the prefix "aqua", You should get a fish or reptile. THere is not enough ventilation for any mammal.
Syrian hamsters are solitary. A teddy bear hamster is a Syrian hamster. When they are small, if they are from the same litter, you can put them together. However, a few weeks down the line, you would have to separate them because as they mature, they get territorial and will fight, bite, and perhaps kill the other with their aggressiveness. Don't forget: although we buy hamsters from breeders or pet shops, these little guys still have all their natural ("wild") tendencies. Syrians don't need the company of other hamsters. With your ten gallon tank, their should be a mesh-like metal cover you can buy from the pet store to fit the top. The hamster will get plenty of air. Make sure your hamster has a wheel for exercise and something wooden to bite on. The wheel should really be a metal mesh, similar in appearance to the mesh-like cover you would purchase. Plastic wheels get bitten through very easily and you can risk your hamster injuring him/herself. The metal mesh wheels are best for their little hands and feet so that they don't end up with a bleeding sore from the limb constantly "falling" through the gap of the other type of wheel. (I learned my lesson with all three types of wheels. The metal mesh one is the best and most cost-effective.) Hamsters' teeth keep growing all their lives, so you'll need that wooden gnaw toy I mentioned above. NOT plastic. If their teeth don't get worn down by gnawing, you will probably have to take the little guy to the vet to have them sanded down or else the teeth will end up going through the roof of the mouth. They would not be about to eat then, and it is a horrible sight also. Buy them a water recepticle similar to the one that the hamster used in the store, and keep the water fresh everyday. Food also. The litter should be changed at least once a week and the enclosure wiped clean. No harsh chemicals, and make sure there's no soap residue. Wipe down food dish also, so dust from the seeds doesn't build up.
Now, if you really want two teddies (and they're adorable, aren't they?!), just double what I said up there. Don't introduce them because, if they're in your hands (for example), one might jump out in an effort to get to the other one. I always wash my hands after picking up my hamster, and if I had two or more (which I have had), I always would wash my hands after playing with one before playing with the other one.
And after all is said and done, you can relax and enjoy you little charge(s). Have fun!
i've had 4 hamsters and the first 2 i had i put them in the same cage.. and they practically killed each other. They seemed OK at first but then thats when they started fighting.. at night you could hear them sqeaking and then one morining i woke up and one was dead!
I DO NOT suggest putting them in the same cage!!
